November 10 Evening - Fly from Auckland to Houston

We arrived Auckland Airport around 7PM to fly back to Houston.  New Zealand Airline was pretty strict on luggage weights for both check-in and carry-on.  Some of us did have to rearrange several items to pass the weight check.  However, everything was OK.  Mysteriously we arrived Houston 9:50PM on November 10 which was earlier (on the surface) than the time we departed Auckland at 10:45PM on November 10.  Interesting!
